attery-powered SteriPENs (UV filters) and treatment tablets don’t filter out sediment, which is a significant problem when you’re forced to take water from glacial rivers. I find that water always tastes best when sent through a pump filter. I’ve used the MSR HyperFlow Microfilter on backcountry hiking trips for years, and when I’m thirsty, I want clean water as fast as possible. The HyperFlow is the fastest (2.75 liters per minute) and lightest (7.8 oz) pump filter that I’ve ever used. It’s very compact, and I’ve never even had a problem with it clogging. WB
