California Riding and Hiking Trail Backpack GPS Track

Joshua Tree National Park, Southern California

  • Distance: 35.1 miles
  • Elevation Gain: 3,654 feet
  • Elevation Loss: 5,625 feet
  • Minimum Elevation: 2,853 feet
  • Maximum Elevation: 5,802 feet

This GPS track starts at Upper Covington Flat at the backcountry parking area and ends at the North Entrance Station backcountry parking area. The track includes a side trip to the top of Quail Mountain, Joshua Tree’s highest point.

You can add seven miles to the hike (completing the entire trail) by starting at the Black Rock Campground backcountry parking area instead.
